It’s amazing how an ending from something so fabulous can start a wonderful beginning, but that is what happens in the transition between high school and college. I can’t believe my high school years are finally over, but I look forward to attending The University of Tennessee at Knoxville in the fall.
I want to thank many people, starting with my dad, who has always been determined to provide for me and who took me to many sports games, encouraging my love of sports. I also want to thank my mom, who has really helped me with my writing skills and has been the coordinator of The Teen Appeal for three years now. The combination of support and influence I have received from my parents is the reason I am planning on pursuing a career in sports journalism. I also want to thank the rest of my family, who were always around when I needed them.
I want to thank all my teachers, especially my English teachers, and my band director, the only teacher I had for four years: Mr. Frigo.
I’ll never forget any of my friends either, whether it be the ones I grew up with or the ones I just met in the last few years. They have all shaped my personality and made me such an outgoing person.
I’d like to send a special thanks to my girlfriend, Jordan Polk, who might be the smartest and nicest person I have ever met and was the first person who talked to me when I was new at Ridgeway.
There are so many experiences I have had at Ridgeway. Our band got perfect scores every year at concert festival, and we went on two trips — one to Orlando and the other to San Antonio. Those good times will stand out in my memory for years to come. I also loved my experience playing in the All-West jazz band this year. My experience writing for The Teen Appeal these last two years has been great.
With all these memories, it is very hard for me to say goodbye to my high school years, but doing so will bring a new beginning, and I am very excited about what lies ahead.
